Burger King Profile - Amelia Dang
At Burger King, we’re proud to have a team of diverse employees who bring unique perspectives to the work we do each day – making all of us and our brand better. During AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Heritage Month, we’re excited to highlight Amelia Dang, Sr. Manager of Pricing & Coupons for Burger King North America.
Amelia grew up in Vietnam and spent 10 years in Singapore, prior to earning her master’s degree from MIT. She then made her way over to Burger King in 2020 spending time in operations analytics before transitioning into her current role.
This was Amelia’s first corporate job in America, and she wasn’t sure what to expect. She was thrilled to find that there was a lot of opportunity to grow and learn, and that her colleagues were extremely welcoming and valued her input.
“When I was new to the team and working virtually, it was hard as a newcomer to jump into the conversation. I remember my supervisor pausing to ask me what I thought, and I was so appreciative of that, and to be able to give my opinion. There is intention and action to actively seek of diverse opinions and perspectives.”
Amelia now manages two different work streams between pricing and coupons. She has a lot of autonomy over the work she does, with the ability to mentor others and work cross-functionally with teams across the brand. When asked what advice she would give to someone starting their career at Burger King and parent company RBI, she shared, “It is fast-paced, and there’s a lot to learn. But there is always someone who is willing to teach you. Not every company has this type of culture and people that allow you to maximize your potential.”
